Since February of this year , C-Infra Grondwerk, Sewerage and Paving from Dongen (North Brabant) has been the proud owner of a brand new DX165W Electric . Six months later, we're talking to operator Tom Embrechts and C-Infra owner Corné van den Noort at an upcoming construction project in Made, North Brabant, where C-Infra is preparing a new residential area for construction.

In 2007, Corné and his wife founded C-Infra, and now, 18 years later, the ambitious family business has grown to approximately 30 permanent employees. C-Infra operates primarily in Central and West Brabant, and is a well-known company in this region for its earthworks, sewer systems, and paving services. C-Infra is constantly evolving and has been working with electric equipment for several years, and now also with larger equipment.
With 12 years of experience, operator Tom Embrechts is certainly no novice and isn't exactly breaking the bank with his electric powerhouse, which he's been using for eight months now. Tom knows what excavators are capable of and, in his own words, was eager to get into this mobile excavator to experience how it works, and also to keep up with the times. Now, Tom is emphasizing the C-Infra company slogan—blue, white, with green ambitions—with this electric excavator.
"Corné and I went through the machine manual and we assembled this machine. Just like with the other Staad excavators from C-Infra, it's mainly practical: a tiltrotator is essential in our work, and so is GPS; we use it a lot these days," says Tom.
Tom continues: "This machine comes standard with quite a lot of features, such as additional work lights, good, large storage boxes in the undercarriage, and a spacious cab with excellent visibility. We reached a decision pretty quickly, although Corné was still busy with the colors and which other details could be made C-infrared. I understand that; the overall look has to be right, and I think it looks great," says Tom, visibly proud.

"I'm very pleased with this electric excavator, just as we both expected. Of course, it takes a little while to figure out how long the excavator will actually last, and you want to know how much power certain tasks consume so you can plan accordingly," says Tom.
He continues: "But this machine runs very well on a full Powerbox 400 kWh battery; we always get through a full workday. These days, I even drive a truck behind this machine to projects, and it still only plugs in when it gets home to the worksite; it still has plenty of kWh left in it," says Tom.
“Because we have known Staad for a long time, purchasing this electric excavator was a logical next step, partly because Staad has years of experience with both electric machines and the associated charging equipment.”
Corné continues: "Thanks to the pleasant contact with sales specialist Johan Zijlmans and the service department staff, electric excavators were increasingly discussed. Because we at C-Infra definitely want to stay ahead of the curve and work even more cleanly and sustainably, we felt it was time to gain experience with larger electric equipment, and that's going well."
Finally, Corné says: “This machine has now been used on several projects. Unfortunately, not yet on completely emission-free projects, but that's not Staad's fault. Eventually, everything will be emission-free, and by then we'll already know how it works! This allows us to provide our clients with optimal advice and collaborate effectively with them on everything that goes into a zero-emission project.”
