DEVELON launches updated electrically powered mini excavator

The DX20ZE mini excavator is the latest version of the company's electrically powered machine.

The DX20ZE mini excavator will be the first electrically powered mass-produced excavator manufactured by DEVELON, formerly known as Doosan Construction Equipment. The 2-ton mini excavator combines low noise levels and zero emissions with the features and performance improvements of the next-generation DX-7 series mini excavators.

"The DX20ZE is designed to meet a growing demand for electric excavators," says Stephane Dieu, Excavators Product Manager for Europe at DEVELON. “Since compact machines, such as mini excavators, are more likely to operate in cities and residential areas, where they are close to other workers, they have a major advantage over their diesel counterparts because they are quieter and emission-free.”

Foldable tracks enable the new mini excavator to pass through narrow passages and entrances and exits, making it ideal for projects in confined spaces or indoor applications such as demolition and construction work. Once the mini excavator reaches the work area, the operator can unfold the tracks for improved stability and lifting capacity. With its compact dimensions, the DX20ZE is an excellent solution for construction and rental companies working in sensitive areas where low noise or night work is required.

The DX20ZE mini excavator is powered by a proprietary 20.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, with all electrical systems and components of the machine optimized to operate in harsh environments. A fast-charging system restores 80% of the battery capacity after just one hour and twenty minutes of charging, while the built-in charger restores the maximum charge after eight hours of charging.

Telematics included

Telematics is included as standard on the DX20ZE mini excavator. Operators and dealers can remotely monitor the machine's condition, location, and productivity via an app or website. Telematics can help owners with:

• Minimize machine theft and enable machine tracking;
• Prevent unauthorized use of the machine;
• See when machine maintenance is needed;
• Adjust warnings to the customer's schedule;
• Monitoring oil pressure, operating temperature, and more;
• Use collected data to train operators for maximum productivity.
