Doosan has expanded the company's range of high reach demolition excavators with the launch of the new flagship model DX530DM (the third machine in the range, the DX380DM, will be launched in the first half of next year).
Increased flexibility
Like the Doosan DX235DM demolition excavator, the first model in the series launched earlier in 2020, the DX530DM offers greater flexibility with a modular boom design and hydraulic locking mechanism. This innovative design makes it possible to easily switch between a demolition boom and an earth-moving boom to perform different types of work on the same project with the same machine.
The DX530DM also has a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage, which extends to a maximum width of 4.37m to provide optimum stability when working on demolition sites. The width of the undercarriage can be hydraulically retracted to 2.97 m in the narrow width position, for transporting the machine. The adjustment mechanism is based on a permanently lubricated internal cylinder design that minimizes resistance during movement and helps to prevent damage to the components.
The maximum pin height of the demolition boom on the DX530DM is 27.5 m, compared to 18 m on the DX235DM. The impressive working range of the DX530DM allows the machine to provide a maximum reach of 16.5 m with a 3 tonne tool. These features are again combined on the DX530DM with a tilting cab with good visibility, particularly suitable for high-altitude demolition and with a tilt angle of 30 degrees.
The multi-boom design offers three different configurations
The multi-boom design allows the construction boom to be mounted in two different ways, providing additional flexibility with the demolition boom with a total of three different configurations for the same base machine. When fitted with the stick in the straight configuration, the DX530DM can work up to a maximum height of 13.5 m. By using the stick in the alternative curved configuration, the DX530DM can work with an attachment up to a maximum height of slightly more than 11 m.
A special stand is provided to facilitate boom changes, which is based on hydraulic and mechanical quick coupler connections. A cylinder based system is used to press the locking pins into place to help complete the procedure. Standard safety features on all Doosan demolition excavators include a FOGS cab guard, boom safety valves, center boom and arm cylinders and a stability warning system.
