Doosan launches new 20 ton Stage V crawler excavators

22 November 2021

Doosan has announced the launch of several new 20-tonne crawler excavators . These include the first 21-tonne crawler excavators from Doosan. The new models are the DX210-7, DX210NLC-7 and the DX210LC-7 . In addition, there are also two heavier models, namely the DX245NHD-4 and the DX235LCR-7 .

Choice of 21 ton machine configurations
The new DX210-7, DX210NLC-7 and DX210LC-7 models all have a choice of long, narrow or long and wide tracks. The new DX210-7 is ideal for use where lower ground pressure is required and the compactness of the machine makes it very easy to work in tight spaces or to transport the machine. The DX210NLC-7 has a long track arrangement that is comparable to the heavier model, the Doosan DX235LC.

New heavy machine
The new DX245NHD-7 crawler excavator with a weight of up to 25 tons is suitable for the most difficult applications. Although it is a true 25 ton machine, the machine contains the undercarriage components of the 30 ton class. The undercarriage components used for this heavier class machine are the chains, rollers, sprockets and chassis. In this way, the life of the machine is extended and it can easily handle extra heavy jobs.

With the DX245NHD-7 crawler excavator, Doosan adds an extra model to its range of crawler excavators, increasing their range again. As far as the name of the machine is concerned, the 'N' stands for Narrow Track and the 'HD' for Heavy Duty, indicating that the machine can handle challenging jobs. Plus the narrow design of the machine so you don't need much space to work and it can be transported more easily, the machine only has a transport width of 2.54 meters.

Small space excavator
The new DX235LCR-7 crawler excavator has a small radius, offers very good digging performance, is flexible, easy to operate and has low maintenance costs. The machine has a small turning circle of only 2310 millimeters. Doosan recognizes the increasing demand for small radius machines for work in urban areas and confined spaces, and the DX235LCR-7 meets this emerging demand precisely.

The trend of machines with a smaller turning circle is due to the fact that more and more houses have to be built in inner-city areas where there is not much space to move freely.

New tiltrotator mode
There is a new tiltrotator mode on the control panel of all new Doosan 20 ton excavators, which can be selected to ensure an optimization for hydraulic flow. This helps with safety and accuracy when working with the tiltrotator and eliminating back pressure. This new mode is a dedicated two-way flow mode, but is haired by the EPOS as a one-way flow mode with direct return to the tank in any direction, to avoid back pressure and increase flow plus controllability.

New Stage V engine
All new Doosan models are powered by the latest generation Doosan DL06V six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 124 kW (166 hp) at 1800 rpm, 131 kW (176 hp) at 1800 rpm and 141 kW (189 hp) at 1900 RPM in respective the three DX210, the DX245NHD-7 and the DX235LCR-7 excavators.

The DL06V engine offers a new solution to the stricter requirements of the government. Fully compliant with Stage V regulations, it has no exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), which increases the amount of air available during combustion, raises the temperature of the process and significantly reduces the amount of particulates produced. This is combined with super-efficient DOC/DPF+SCR after-treatment technology to ensure minimal emissions. Thanks to the new technology, the maintenance of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) has been significantly reduced, no maintenance is now required on the diesel particulate filter until the machine has operated for 8000 hours.

New heavier counterweights for working with a tiltrotator
One of the new features of the Doosan DX245NHD-7 is a standard 5-tonne counterweight, which makes the machine particularly suitable for working with heavier attachments such as a tiltrotator. The heavier counterweight also contributes to increased lifting and digging capacity.

Despite the compact dimensions of the machines, the Doosan DX235LCR-7 crawler excavator offers excellent lifting performance and this is further enhanced because this machine also has the option of mounting a heavier counterweight. Doosan has also updated the design of the standard and optional counterweights to improve service access and make maintenance work easier and faster. In addition to the optimized stability and increased lifting capacity, the optional heavier counterweight is also particularly suitable for working with heavier attachments such as a tiltrotator.

All five new 20-tonne models feature a new smart hydraulic system that offers an improvement of approximately 30% in attachments compared to previous models. The new system uses smart hydraulic technology to optimize the distribution of the hydraulic section when both arm and attachment are working at the same time. This is achieved by a new priority valve and an auxiliary hydraulic line that ensures continuous hydraulic flow to the attachment, even when the arm is in use.

New swing throttle function
Another standard new feature is the swing throttle function. This minimizes shaking during a swinging movement when lifting an object. This guarantees the safety of employees even better. When this function is activated, the overshoot disappears, allowing the machine to smoothly reach maximum swing speed, avoiding jerking during the reversal at the time of stopping and resulting in a smooth stop. The new excavators also feature a new lifting eye as standard which is part of the push rod casting at the bucket attachment at the end of the arm. The new lifting eye has a capacity of 5 tons and has a special bush insert to prevent deformation of the lifting hole.

SPC3 smart power controllers
The improved fuel economy of the DL06V engine combined with a new hydraulic main valve and the new generation SPC3 (Smart Power Controls) provides greater fuel savings. There are now four power modes (P+, P, S or E) available on the new models which help simplify operation of the excavators and can be set in either one-way or two-way mode. In addition, the new models make DX210-7. DX210NLC-7 and the DX210LC-7 use the hydraulic system used on the heavier DX225LC-5 model from Doosan. This gives the operator the fastest possible response, precision and hydraulic capacity to get the job done.

Increased comfort and controllability
The state-of-the-art cab of the new excavators excels in space and ergonomics, taking operator comfort and ease of operation to the next level. In addition to a new high-quality seat, excellent controllability and high precision in all applications, the upgraded cab offers more features than other machines on the market as standard.

Major new features in and around the cab:

  • Doosan Smert touch new 8-inch touchscreen
  • DAB audio handsfree and Bluetooth
  • Doosan Smart Key (keyless ignition system and remote door release)
  • Leatherette seat (heating and cooling optional)
  • Parallel wiper system
  • Newly designed pedals
  • Improved airflow for defrosting and air conditioning
  • Standard 8x LED lamps (4x more LED lamps as option)
  • AVM (around view monitor) 360 degree camera
  • Option: Ultrasonic Obstacle Detection (not optional for DX235LCR-7)

Doosan connect
All new 20 ton models are factory installed with Doosan connect as standard. This is a tool specially designed for the Doosan range and provides comprehensive information on machine performance in a dual mode (satellite, mobile network). It provides an online based solution for the fleet which is very useful for managing the performance and safety of the machines and promoting preventive maintenance.
