It is the first in the new range of High Reach demolition excavators: the DX235DM. Later this year, Doosan will launch two other models in its range, namely the DX380DM and DX530DM. What is so special about this demolition machine? Typical of the design of the DX235DM is the good visibility from the tilting cab. This tilting cab is particularly suitable for demolition applications where a long reach and a tilt angle of 30 degrees is required.
A key feature of the Doosan DX235DM (and the other models in the High Reach Demolition Excavator series) is the modular boom design and hydraulic locking mechanism on the machine. This provides the customer with a complete, flexible solution that allows them to use the same excavator for other on-site applications in addition to demolition work.
The innovative design makes the process of switching between a demolition boom and an earthmover boom very simple. This makes it possible to perform different types of work during the same project. A special stand facilitates this change, based on the quick-change hydraulic and mechanical coupling connections. Retaining pins are pushed into place to complete the procedure by a cylinder system.
Multiple booms increase flexibility
The earth-moving boom (stick) of the machine can be mounted in two different ways. Add to that the demolition boom, which means that the DX235DM has three different configurations for the same basic machine. This makes the machine extremely flexible.
The 18 meter long demolition boom makes the working range of the demolition machine impressively high: the demolition tool can work up to a maximum height of 16 meters. The recommended maximum combined weight for the attachment and quick coupler in this mode is 2.1 tons.
When equipped with the stick in straight configuration, the DX235DM can work up to a maximum height of 9 meters. In this format, the recommended maximum weight for the attachment and quick coupler is 3.3 tons.
The DX235DM can operate to a maximum height of 8 meters using the stick in the alternative curved configuration, with an attachment. In this mode, the recommended maximum weight for the attachment and quick coupler is again 3.3 tons.
Hydraulically adjustable undercarriage
The DX235DM has a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage, which extends to a maximum width of 3.74 meters. This ensures optimum stability when working on demolition sites. The undercarriage width can be hydraulically retracted to 2.54 meters in the narrow width. This is ideal for transporting the machine, for example.
The mechanism is based on a permanently lubricated internal cylinder design. This minimizes resistance during movement and helps prevent damage to the components.
