Three new Stage V crawler excavators from 23 to 25 tons

22 December 2021

Doosan has announced the new launch of three new 23-25 tonne Stage V compliant crawler excavators , the Doosan DX235LC-7 , the Doosan DX235LCR-7 and the Doosan DX255LC-7 . These new DX-7 models again deliver better performance than the previous Stage IV models. They combine comfort, increased attachment capacity and new driver assistance technology, with new features to improve fuel economy, uptime and return on investment with an emphasis on increased power, robustness and maneuverability.

Meeting the demand for excavators for tight spaces

The new Doosan DX235LCR-7 close radius crawler excavator offers superior digging performance combined with flexibility, convenience and low operating costs in a compact design with a tail swing radius of just 1724mm. The DX235LCR-7 meets the increasing demand for smaller radius machines for work close to buildings and in confined spaces.

The trend towards smaller radius machines has been driven by the space premium, particularly on inner-city and urban construction sites, and by the requirement in road and rail construction to keep adjacent lanes and tracks open while work is being done next to them.

New tiltrotator mode

A new mode is available for the tiltrotator on the control panel of all new excavators. It can be selected to ensure optimized hydraulic flow and helps maximize the accuracy of the tiltrotator work by eliminating back pressure. This new mode is a dedicated two-way flow mode, but is managed by the EPOS as a one-way flow mode, with direct return to the tank in any direction to avoid back pressure and increase flow and controllability.

New heavier counterweights for working with a tiltrotator

The heavy 5.0 tonne standard counterweight on the DX235LC-7 and DX255LC-7 models and the even heavier 6.4 tonne standard counterweight on the DX235LCR-7 model contribute to the optimized stability and higher lifting capacities of these machines. The DX235LCR-7 and DX255LC-7 can be further enhanced with new optional heavier counterweights, weighing 7.4 tons for the DX235LCR-7 and 5.5 tons for the DX255LC-7 respectively. These optional heavier counterweights are particularly suitable for working with heavier attachments such as a tiltrotator.

Doosan has also updated the design of the standard and optional counterweights to make service more accessible and maintenance work as easy as possible. Like the other models of Doosan's new mid-range tracked and wheeled excavators, all new 23-25 ton models feature a new smart hydraulic system that offers an improvement of approximately 30% in attachments compared to previous excavator models. The new system employs smart hydraulic logic to optimize hydraulic flow distribution when both arm and attachment are operating simultaneously, with a new priority valve and auxiliary hydraulic line that maintains continuous hydraulic flow to the attachment even when the arm is is used.

New Fine Swing function

Another standard new feature is the Fine Swing function which minimizes the shaking experienced by a lifted object at the beginning or end of a swing movement with the excavator, to increase the safety of nearby workers and to prevent damage caused by falling objects. avoid the object of the excavator. When Fine Swing is activated, the overshoot disappears, allowing the excavators to smoothly reach maximum swing speed, while the shock of the swing reversal is removed at the time of stopping, resulting in a smooth stop.

The new excavators also have a new lifting eye as standard, which is part of the push rod casting for the bucket attachment at the end of the arm. The new lifting eye has a maximum capacity of 5 tons and is fitted with a special bush insert to prevent deformation of the lifting hole.

Increased comfort and controllability

The state-of-the-art cab of the new excavators excels in space and ergonomics, taking operator comfort and ease of operation to a new level. In addition to a new high-quality seat, the upgraded cab offers more features than other machines on the market as standard, ensuring excellent controllability and high precision in all applications.

Key new features in and around the cab:

  • Doosan Smart Touch (new 8-inch touchscreen)
  • DAB audio (hands-free and Bluetooth)
  • Doosan Smart Key (keyless ignition system, door lock/remote unlock)
  • Artificial leather seat heating (heating and cooling as an option)
  • Parallel wiper system and newly designed pedals
  • Improved airflow for defrosting and air conditioning
  • Standard 8 x LED work lights
  • 4 additional LED lamps as an option • AVM - Around View Monitor with 360° cameras (option)
  • Ultrasonic obstacle detection (option - not for DX235LCR-7)

New Stage V engine

All new models are powered by the latest generation Doosan DL06V six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 129 kW (173 hp) at 1800 rpm, 141 kW (189 hp) at 1900 rpm and 141 kW (189 hp) at 1900 RPM in respectively the DX235LC-7, DX235LCR-7 and DX255LC-7.

The DL06V engine offers a new solution to exceed Stage V regulations without exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), which increases the amount of air available during combustion, raises the temperature of the process and significantly reduces the amount of particulates produced. This is combined with super-efficient DOC/DPF+SCR after-treatment technology to ensure minimal emissions. Thanks to the new technology, the maintenance of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) has been significantly reduced, with no maintenance required until the machine has run for 8,000 hours.

SPC3 smart power controllers

The improved fuel economy of the DL06V engine combined with a new hydraulic main valve and the new generation of SPC3 Smart Power Controls provides greater fuel savings. Four power modes (P+, P, S or E) are now available on the new models, helping to simplify operation of the new excavators and can be set in either one-way or two-way mode.

DoosanCONNECT telematics system

All new models are factory installed with Doosan's state-of-the-art DoosanCONNECT wireless machine fleet monitoring system as standard. The DoosanCONNECT system provides a web-based fleet management solution that is very useful for monitoring machine performance and safety and promoting preventive maintenance. It is available as standard on all new Doosan excavators (from 14 tons), all new Doosan wheel loaders and Doosan ADTs.
