Electric earthmoving requires more than the right machine. It requires knowledge, trust, and a partner who thinks along about what is needed in practice. That is precisely where Boskalis Nederland and Staad find common ground.
Our collaboration dates back several years. In the late summer of 2024 and early 2025, we already delivered several electric DX355LC crawler excavators to Boskalis, five in total. In 2026, another great step followed: a batch of no fewer than seven electric crawler excavators. With the delivery of this seventh machine, this series is now complete, meaning there are currently twelve electric crawler excavators from Staad operating at Boskalis.
Apart from these powerful crawler excavators, electric DL285 Electric wheel loaders and DX165W Electric mobile excavators are also in operation. To keep all this machinery up and running on construction sites, Boskalis has extra interchangeable Powerbox batteries and various Fieldmasters (AC and DC) fast chargers and inverters at its disposal.
A great milestone, but for us, the story primarily reflects the development of our collaboration. Because at Staad, it doesn't stop at delivering a machine. From the very first delivery, we are also involved in the service, support, and advice needed to deploy machines optimally in practice. For instance, together with Boskalis, we reviewed the build manuals for the 30-ton electric crawler excavators. This resulted in a practical standard that serves as the basis for machine configuration. At the same time, customization remains possible, tailored to the type of project and the work for which a machine is deployed.
In this way, we combine a well-thought-out standard with targeted advice and tailor-made solutions. Through short lines of communication, knowledge sharing, and commitment, we ensure together that the machines align with practical applications. We are proud of the trust Boskalis has placed in us for many years. And we are at least as proud of the way we are further developing the collaboration together. Because ultimately, it is not just about the machines we supply, but above all about what we make possible together.
This latest delivered crawler excavator will also get to work on a dike reinforcement project, in this case the Zwolle Olst project. Upon delivery, our demonstrator gave a detailed explanation and demonstration of this zero-emission crawler excavator to the operator of this powerhouse, after which he could get straight to work.
With this delivery, we made Boskalis happy with a customer-specific DX355LC electric crawler excavator. Here at Staad in the workshop, the following wishes were realized with craftsmanship and pride:
Groeneveld grease lubrication, where the grease pot (8kg instead of 4kg) has been lowered for easy filling;
Trimble Earthworks GPS preparation;
BMair Freshfilter overpressure unit preparation;
Verachtert CW40 hydraulic quick coupler;
Electrically switched swing damping;
Electrically switch bucket cylinder to extra function;
Pressureless return;
Replace hose rupture valves of lifting cylinders and arm cylinders (3x) with Atlantic Fluid hose rupture valves);
Chamfering track plates;
Widen undercarriage to 3.8 meters and raise by ground clearance: approximately 650 millimeters;
13-meter boom. Boom extended to 7.9 meters and dipper stick extended and bent to 5.88 meters;
Counterweight increase of approximately 4,000 kilograms;
Replace upper rollers with heavier lower rollers;
Transport support mounted on the boom;
LED lamp package of six units for boom extension, two of which are on the inside of the stick with protection;
LED lights on the inside of the stem moved to the side of the stem;
Two LED work lights mounted on a counterweight;
Install folding steps at the cabin entrance;
Sprayed in company colors and finished with a clear lacquer coating.
